I want this to be a personal space where I can share my honest progress with those kind enough to follow my art. In addition to making music, I sketch, journal and think a lot, and the prospect of sharing those intimate things candidly has been swimming around my head for a while. So for the few people who may be interested in the innerworkings of my brain, I'd like to document them here.
I'm in the process of writing and recording a body of original music to release later this year. Not sure if it'll be an EP or an album yet, but whatever it ends up being it'll be my best stuff to date. It's the greatest feeling but I know these things take a while to come together - I figured I'd at least keep you up to date in the meantime. I love when artists post their blogs online. I remember reading all of Adam Duritz's (Counting Crows) tour diary entries on his LiveJournal in a single night. (https://adamfd.livejournal.com/) I'm completely voyeuristic and love lurking through 'behind the scenes' material of other musicians so why not do the same in the case that one of you might want to leaf through mine?
Anyway, throughout the writing/recording process I've had to dig pretty deep inside myself and well, I'm not quite sure what to do with the guts I'm drudging up. Gonna start smearing them onto the walls of this website in hopes that someone gleams some sort of enjoyment from them.. so grit and all, please try to make some sense out of it all.
I might not be specific in my "journal entries" and the things I upload will be riddled with imperfections & stuff I may later be embarrassed to have shared. I'm pretty tired of how mechanical most social media accounts look.. I've always curated my own profiles but I've been guilty of making them pretty impersonal as well. But this is my show and I'm finally gonna run it how I want; with blunt honesty, however scattered and undeveloped it may be.
On the front page of my blog, I included a section for topic suggestions. You guys can write in to me about what you want me to blog about week by week, if you so desire. I'll also just post about my general feelings, thoughts and album progress in the hopes that some of you may relate. I want to be able to talk to you guys, have you comment and/or start a dialogue with me. I'm kind of a loner so the fact that I have a little community of seemingly like-minded folk on here is a really warm feeling. I should be taking advantage of it. So like.. let's hang out more. Digitally.
